PROJECT BRIEF

The Cannabis industry is one that is constantly growing as it is becoming more accepted in our society today. Cannabis offers many health benefits such as relieving pain and providing relaxation, especially for those who struggle with anxiety. As designers, it is not only our job to keep up with new trends but to also research the products that we work with in order to fully understand its purpose and target audience. The goal of this project is to design packaging for a cannabis product that accurately targets it’s intended audience while also effectively displaying important health information and product warnings through the use of typography.

Target Audience

My target audience are young models who are always out and about, constantly needing that extra bit of energy to show that they’re the life of the party. All eyes are constantly on them which can probably get pretty exhausting. Although it may seem like they can go all day, they’re people just like us and people get.. TIRED. Sometimes the runways and afterparties are a lot of work and a girl just needs that extra boost of energy to keep those cameras happy!

CREATIVE DIRECTION + Design

I approached this project with the idea of designing high-end chocolate packaging for Cannabliss. For my logo, I wanted something that represented both fun and elegance. After doing some research and exploration, I decided to go with an abstract butterfly since butterflies represent bliss. Not only does that fit well with the look and feel of the project, but it works perfectly for the name as well.

Just like the models, I wanted to go with a design that is elegant but also fun and lively. I created three unique flavors of chocolate bars such as mint chocolate chip, raspberry dark chocolate, and passionfruit dark chocolate. Design elements include colorful shapes and patterns that seem to move in a musical way as well as some line work for structure. As a fun addition, the back of the packaging contains phrases or play-on-words that reflect back to the flavor itself followed by a story intended to leave a smile on someone’s face!
